The Saddle and Sgurr na Sgine from Glen Shiel

6.8 miles, 1408 metres of ascent
Estimated time: 4h45m
This route takes in one of the finest days out on the mountains in this area, the highlight being the Forcan ridge.
Start by taking the footpath up the hillside starting from 968143, this winds it's way up to the col between Biod an Fhithich and Meallan Odhar. From here turn Southwards to go over Meallan Odhar and down to the col at 950133. The 'Forcan Ridge' links the col where you are now to the summit of The Saddle, there is some exposed scrambling to be done here including one tricky section. Alternatively, to avoid the scrambling, head Southwards and follow the hillside round to reach Bealach Coire Mhalagain at 944125 and then head North-West to reach the summit. Whichever way you get to the summit, the highpoint has a trigpoint on it (2h45m).
Head South-East down to Bealach Coire Mhalagain where potentially you may have come up from. Continue heading South-East and up to reach the ridge at some point between Faochag and Sgurr na Sgine. Turn right to reach the summit of Sgurr na Sgine (3h30m).
To get back down, turn back and return along the ridge the way you came, continue over Faochag and then down the steep ridge to Allt Mhalagain. There is a path that runs down on the Eastern side of Allt Mhalagain, but it cross over at the bottom of the ridge, it's probably sensible to pick the path up before it crosses over the river. The road is then just a few minutes walk along the path and you are left a few minutes away from the original starting point.
