MUNRO CENTRAL

Sgurr nan Gillean

Location:NG471252
Height:964 m
3163 ft
Sgurr nan Gillean is one of the harder Munros, the ascent is closer to climbing than it is to scrambling. Hire a local guide if you're not confident of your abilities.
The best route for this mountain is by the classic Pinnacle Ridge from Sligachan, this route is sustained scrambling from the higher end of the scale, with some abseiling, and a couple of climbing pitches.
There are sections on the main Cuillin ridge where the compass becomes unreliable due to local variations in the magnetic field; take care with your map reading.
