An Gearanach
Location: | NN187669 |
Height: | 982 m 3222 ft |
An Gearanach lies just off the main Mamores ridge above the upper parts of Glen Nevis. It is linked to the Mamores ridge by a fairly narrow exposed ridge with a little easy scrambling to gain the summit. This Munro is easily accessible from Glen Nevis where there is a short and sharp ascent to gain the summit, usually a half-day excursion.
It is reasonable to climb this mountain from Kinlochleven, as an addition to the Am Bodach/Stob Choire a' Chairn/Na Gruagaichean route. The scrambling will take a little time, but the amount of re-ascent is not significant; there is a faint path leading from the An Gearanach/Stob Choire a' Chairn col to the main ridge, coming out on the Eastern flank of Stob Choire a' Chairn.
